With
the advent of Pharmaceutical Needs Assessments (PNAs) by PCTs
and the requirements of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme
(DSQS) it is becoming increasingly important for dispensing
practices to demonstrate the competence of their staff and the
standards to which dispensing services are offered. Failure to
do so could result in significant financial consequences for the
practice and also have repercussions on whether the service
should continue.
Any
dispensing doctor will agree that maintenance of high standards
in service provision is imperative; however it is now becoming
increasingly important to be able to demonstrate your high
standards through staff training such as NVQ and NVQ equivalent
courses.
To
comply with the requirements of the Dispensary Services Quality
Scheme (DSQS) dispensing
staff that work independently in the practice dispensary: must
be competent in the area in which they are working to a minimum
standard equivalent to the Pharmacy Services NVQ level 2, or
undertaking training towards this, or enroll in this training
within three months of the practice’s written undertaking to
provide the service.
In
association with DD&P, Surelines offer a full NVQ level 2
course certified by City & Guilds for dispensers working in
dispensing doctor surgeries. We also offer an NVQ equivalent
course for dispensers who do not want to undertake a full NVQ.
