URGENT National Health Service (Pharmaceutical Services) (Amendment) ( Wales ) Regulations 2009

The new Welsh Dispensing Regulations were published earlier this year.

In many respects they mirror the English 2005 regulations, including the requirement to register premises for dispensing activity.

Dispensing practices in Wales are advised it appears that failure to actively seek premises approval in the next two weeks could lead to a suspension or loss of dispensing rights.

Surelines urges all Welsh Dispex members and all other dispensing practices in Wales to pursue registration with their LHB as soon as possible.  Please note it is premises approval and therefore multisite practices should register all dispensing sites.

Other changes include:

  • augment the class of person able to appeal a decision on the rurality of  a location

    • introduce the concept of “reserved locations”

    • make provision in relation to new applications to dispense by doctors

    • make provision in respect of additional premises and the relocation of dispensing practice premises

    • make provision for practice am algamation

    • make transitional provisions

Please note Surelines are the leading experts in these fields and in particular the defence of dispensing doctor practices facing predatory pharmacy applications.  Please click here for further information or contact victoria@surelines.com if you require any Pharmacy related queries.
